Studio Spotlight: Breathe Strong

Bringing a vital patient-led podcast to life

Breathe Strong is a podcast built around honest conversations about lung cancer and mesothelioma. The show gives patients, families and professionals a place to talk openly about diagnosis, treatment, side effects, relationships, fear, hope and the everyday reality of living with serious illness. It is human first, practical, and grounded in lived experience.

The show began through a partnership between HASAG Asbestos Disease Support and EGFR Positive UK, with mesothelioma specialist nurse Rachel Thomas helping lead the conversations. From the start, the aim was simple. Create something useful. Not another polished health campaign full of jargon, but a real podcast where people affected by lung cancer could hear voices like their own, ask questions, and feel less alone.

That is where Orion Studios comes in. We support Breathe Strong as the production partner behind the show. Our role covers the planning, recording and delivery needed to turn sensitive, high-stakes conversations into a professional podcast that still feels warm and natural. We help shape the format, manage the production workflow, capture high-quality audio and video, and turn each recording into content that can live across podcast platforms, YouTube, websites and social media.

For a show like this, production matters. These are not easy conversations to have. Guests need to feel comfortable. The host needs space to listen properly. The technical side needs to disappear into the background so the stories can come through clearly. Our job is to create that environment, then make sure the finished content is strong enough to serve patients, supporters and partner organisations long after the recording day is over.

The show is already building real momentum. According to the current Breathe Strong sponsor kit, the podcast is averaging 81 downloads per episode in the first 28 days, 195 downloads every 7 days, 480 every 28 days, and 550 every 90 days, with 1,651 total downloads all-time at the point of reporting. The most recent listed episodes include Coping with Side Effects of Immunotherapy Treatment: Real Experiences from Patients published on 10 April 2026, Answers, Options, and Hope with Professor Sanjay Popat on 27 March 2026, and Communication in Relationships: The Key to Navigating Cancer on 13 March 2026.

The audience profile in the sponsor kit makes clear why the show matters. Breathe Strong is reaching people affected by lung cancer who want straight, human conversation, especially those who are newly diagnosed, non-smokers, partners, carers and close friends. Many listeners are in the UK and US and are looking for support, clarity and shared experience rather than medical jargon.

For Orion Studios, Breathe Strong is a strong example of what a studio partnership can be. We do not just record content. We help organisations create media with purpose. In this case, that means helping an important show sound professional, feel personal, and reach the people who need it most.
